Watching Black Mirror, its legit. Striking Vipers and San Juniper were really good.

Also my brother got me into watching Tuca & Bertie, but its hard for me to focus because I keep wondering why, or how, avian creatures have mammary glands.

That's impressive. Was there anything particularly lucky about your run? I'd imagine things would be a lot easier if you find the potion shop/fairy fountains early on. Either way, that's awesome, man. I beat the main story and know I could do better, but permadeath is on another level.

Cadence is way less difficult than Necrodancer because you have options thanks to the world map. Play permadeath, die 100 times, and eventually you form strategies.

Here's my best tips:
1: Link is safer to play than Zelda. Holding up your shield while moving solves a lot of problems--I still plan on beating Permadeath with Zelda, but the biggest difference is where you start. Zelda has higher potential as a character though, especially when you factor in that only Zelda can equip the Rapier, the strongest weapon in the game.
2: the beginning is THE MOST DIFFICULT part, until you collect 4 heart pieces or pick up a bottle.
3: There are 3 bottles in the game: 2 gem merchants and one rupee merchant at the beachside shack. This tile almost ALWAYS spawns one screen south of Link's House. Paired with the free single heart piece, Link has a great start. Maxing these guys fast is your lifeline.
4: When you begin, your first objective should be getting to Lake Hylia or Lost Woods asap, to get the lute item. When shit gets ugly, use the lute in combat to run away and heal. Lost Woods does home Tingle, who will double your stamina bar for 10 deku seeds. Then you can turtle forever with Link/Cadence.
5: never enter a dungeon until you're ready. ALWAYS do Kakariko Crypt first. Doing them in order is your best bet. The most important thing from dungeons is finding a non-glass weapon so you can imbue it--My winning run was a titanium broadsword, which was very critical against Gohmaracas.
6: if you can reach the sheikah stone of any dungeon, you have already overcome the hardest part.
And lastly: the number one cause of death is COCKINESS, or rather, OVERCONFIDENCE. Always play safe!

Play it over and over and don't take it too seriously. Its fun, and requires you to come into it with a strategy instead of kinda running blindly like in Necrodancer.

I beat Cadence of Hyrule on Permadeath mode today! It was a 2 hour run with Link and oh man I feel pretty accomplished.

you're almost 30 and you have enough time to play video games every night for hours on end, to the point where you could beat SMW in a week?

When is the last time you played SMW? When you were 5? Because time is relative so I could see why it felt like months if you've never played it since. Play it again. I once played for an afternoon and got 98%, you seriously are overestimating the difficulty of that game.

If you never played it before and had no guide, maybe. I can definitely 100% SMW within a week and I guarantee others here can as well.

what the fuck is that?

Its a platformer where your main attack is grabbing enemies, which enables you to doublejump once by throwing them downward.

Beat Cadence of Hyrule today. Awesome game, ended up being slightly longer than I expected, mostly because the final dungeon is basically like 2 dungeons. Music alone makes the game worth playing, but I'm battling with my opinions if this is my new all-time favorite Zelda in the series. Its a perfect sequel to Necrodancer, its a fitting spinoff in for Zelda, and to top it all off, its a top-down Zelda with exploration on a world map and dungeons AND THE WHOLE DAMN THING IS 2-PLAYERS. I don't think the Necrodancer aspects are enough to call it a gimmicky Zelda, which makes this a very strong entry in the Zelda series.

I actually agree, there are so many excellent Mario games that it would take months to complete them all, why even bother with other side scrollers when it's been done to perfection already?

super Mario Bros
super Mario Bros 2
super Mario Bros 3
Super Mario World
yoshis island 1 + 2
new super mario bros
new super mario bros wii u

then all the fuckin donkey kong games which are excellent as well

sorry any other platformer, you suck in comparison.

Klonoa would like to have a word with you

In Hyrule there's a flat out option to turn off the beat system. In Necrodancer it was a separate character, Bard, which is good practice but I beat all zones mode on my first try with him. So, it makes it significantly easier.

Ooh yeah, Necrodancer is brutal at first but just about every enemy has a very easy pattern to learn, including the big baddies. Last month I was playing the all zones mode like every night, its definitely one of my favorite roguelikes. AND its 2P.

Cadence of Hyrule just continues to be, like...A perfect sequel to Necromancer while utilizing the Zelda theme very well. It fits with the recent "explore a bunch" theme of Zelda games, yet builds so well on what Necrodancer was. Basically, you've got respawn points now in a big ol' overworld and you gotta beat 4 bosses to unlock Hyrule Castle. When you're in a safe zone (or clear all enemies on a screen) the combat beats stop and you can move freely and that fits well.

Also, on the map screen, Zelda and Link's little icons bob their heads to the music. Its great.

I woke up this morning and found out Necrodancer's Cadence of Hyrule came out on switch. I got it and played for 48 minutes and died 13 times already, and its pretty great. The music kicks ass and its super faithful to both Necrodancer and Zelda--The game opens up with remixed music from 1-1 of Necrodancer and then the Zelda theme plays on it and omg its wicked how well done it is.

Fuck yeah, we're burning media to the ground and I am all for Time columnists to make you question their credibility.

On the other hand, this is why Flat Earth Theory exists. Though I prefer Discworld or Yggdrasilian Earth Theory.

3 new Star Wars films announced. $5 bucks says the Empire was good all along and protected everyone from a greater evil, and now the Empire and Rebels have to team up, together, to save the galaxy! I'm calling it, its Disney now.

Breath of the Wild is just okay and that's literally all I have to say about it.

Been playing Cuphead since it released on switch. I beat it, working on Expert mode...I love the artwork, the frustration not so much. I love the animation so much but from a gameplay perspective it doesn't feel very rewarding. Too many times I've died saying "that was bullshit" because the hitboxes are imperfect or the controls aren't responsive.

I think I was just spoiled off Sekiro since its brutally difficult, but always fair, and every loss hit me and made me really rework my strategy to find something that works...Cuphead cheapshots you a little too often, and relies not on skill but memorization. I mean, sure, Contra is the same, but being decades old gives a little leeway for Konami. Cuphead dug up some old, archaic mechanics that are better left behind.

Aside from that, I really do enjoy everything else.
