QUOTE
AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted is the debut studio album by American rapper Ice Cube. It was released on May 16, 1990, by Priority Records. It serves as his first solo album, after his acrimonious split from his former group N.W.A. The album was primarily produced by Public Enemy's production team The Bomb Squad, and the album was an unexpectedly large critical and commercial success, and remains one of the defining hip hop albums of the 1990s.

With socio-political conscious and gangsta rap content, its songs delve into the issues of ghetto life, drug addiction, racism and poverty. Throughout the album, Ice Cube incessantly attacks institutions for perceived or actual racist tendencies, as well as social norms which directly or indirectly allowed the oppression of those living in the ghettos of Los Angeles to continue. On "Endangered Species (Tales from the Darkside)," he predicts that his neighborhood would become a flash point for violence before 1992's scandal over the beating of Rodney King,[10] and takes police to task for the policies that would later lead to the L.A. riots that resulted.

Throughout the album, Cube takes some controversial stands, referring to certain types of African-Americans as "oreo cookies", an epithet implying that they appear black on the outside, but have, internally, negative white tendencies. Arsenio Hall is specifically mentioned as being a "sell-out." Cube also heavily criticizes R&B and hip hop radio stations for watered-down broadcasting. The title song directly parodies the television show, America's Most Wanted, alleging bias and glee the program displays in arresting Afro-American men.

so if you are all wondering what kind of effect Ice Cube had on NWA and the rap game in general. Listen to this album and then go listen to Straight Outta Compton and Niggas4life. Its real obvious that Ice Cube was the mouth of NWA and without him their lyrics suffered greatly (seriously Niggas4life is weak as hell both lyrically and politically compared to straight outta compton and amerikkka's most wanted). Its also obvious that Dre style of producing and back tracking choices are different from that of Bomb Squad (Public Enemy's production team). I will say that is the greatest downfall of this album is that all the tracks sounds very similarly in their back tracking and lack the diversity you get from other albums. That being said, all the beats are fat, so i dont blame them, it sounds good. so what i love about ice cube is that he is one of the most articulate angry people in this world. the man captures the raw anger of being a poor black man and expresses it in one of the most beautiful ways possible and is incredible poetic.

the stand out track for me is Its a Man's World. i think the back and forth between Cube and Yo Yo is spot on accurate microcosm for the struggles of sexism in our society, especially in male dominated fields.

I'm like a week late, but I dug this record.

I agree with Skankin, Ice Cube's lyrics are some of the most clever of the time and his flow is super smooth. He comes across as pissed as fuck, but still cool and collected so you never mistake him for erratic or over the line.

That said, I do agree as well that this record falls into the trap of a lot of early 90s hip hop, where there's very little variation in tracking or format, so the whole thing sort of sounds like one long song. It's a good song...and I like it...but it's just one song.

Overall, very glad I checked it out.

Are any of you dudes into Wu Tang?

I totally missed the boat on those guys, but as I get more into early 90's hip hop, they seem to be the dudes that are cool even if you don't usually dig rap. Any thoughts on where to start?

Also, while European women aren't usually fat, most smoke, which is a huge turnoff for me personally. But really, what the fuck...it's just a one night stand anyways, so who cares at that point.

we are going to need proof. I suggest you enter into a hot air balloon race around the world. If you can finish it in under 80 days, then i will believe you are not a robot.
