i would do this if it didn't require a cast-iron skillet. can i just do the whole thing on the stove with a frying pan?

QUOTE (HighonFez @ Nov 17 2014, 09:51 PM) *
As long as that pan is oven safe for the broiling I can't see anything catastrophic happening. Might not be as crispy.

Steves right if you have any sort of oven safe pan, it will probably work and just not turn out quite as super crispy (honestly, I'm wondering if you could even maybe make a janky one with a pie pan or something).

If you can't broil it though, covering it might turn out alright...but your cheese is never going to get all brown and bubbly and really, thats like 70% of the appeal here.

That said though, dude you should really just invest in a cast iron. I'm sort of a fan boy, but its the most used pan in my kitchen. It's the end all be all best option for cooking simple every day shit like eggs and grilled sandwiches to making awesome one dish stove top casseroles to searing roasts to cooking bacon.

Plus, once you've got a nice season on it, it becomes like the easiest thing in the world to clean.

EDIT : best $25 you'll ever spend,

I just don't have the kitchen space for it. And even if I did I kinda made a promise not to buy any more kitchen ware in this apartment since my roommate has completely destroyed everything I've bought. I don't know how we'd wreck a skillet but he'd find a way.

Also, while European women aren't usually fat, most smoke, which is a huge turnoff for me personally. But really, what the fuck...it's just a one night stand anyways, so who cares at that point.

This is exactly why I haven't bought a cast iron from amazon already. My beloved grilled cheese/pancake flat skillet is toast and it's been 3 months. I have a set of bamboo cutting boards that I've decided not to open until I move. Some day though...

Either way I always keep an eye out for a good deal on one every time I go to TJ Maxx.

This thread is even sadder now. I have been making my own deep dish Pizza for a year or so and ita so easy that using a tortilla is lame.

Also pretty sure this was my second choice for the pizza break.

I'm still using pre-made crusts from wal-mart and it's still the best.

Had some Lou Malnati's when I was back in the Midwest.

The best Deep Dish, not to thick and they have a butter crust.
