These deaths consisted of 11,208 homicides, 21,175 suicides, 505 deaths due to accidental or negligent discharge of a firearm, and 281 deaths due to firearms use with "undetermined intent". Of the 2,596,993 total deaths in the US in 2013, 1.3% were related to firearms.

QUOTE
In 2015, 10,265 people died in alcohol-impaired driving crashes, accounting for nearly one-third (29%) of all traffic-related deaths in the United States

Roughly the same amount of people die from gun related homcide as drunk drivers. And combine they are roughly the same as suicide by gun. Finally firearms only represent 1.3% of deaths in the united states.

There are so many bigger fish to fry. Gun violence is a red herring that can be reduce simply by proper mental health treatment and better social economic opportunities for inner city youth. If you wanna holler about guns, then you should also holler about alcohol, cause it is just as bad for our society as guns are.

I don't think this should be about gun control since the guy clearly had a way to acquire guns whether it was legal or not.

But its also not about mental health, because he was a totally normal retired guy with enough money to burn at casinos, and he certainly didn't suffer any insurmountable losses.

So...what IS this about? This is why I'm so angry. It was useless. It made people freak out. And I'm frustrated because of the wasted opportunity--why would you slaughter a bunch of country music fans in Vegas when you could have shot someone that could have meant something, IE a shitload of people on capital hill.

Mental health is not taken seriously by anyone. Healthy people don't understand it, unhealthy people are unwilling to admit anything is wrong with them, or are too ashamed to, or do and struggle with the shitty mental health system. People become lonely and lost, maybe all their loved ones die or move away and they're too afraid or financially unable to move. 40,000 people commit suicide every year. That's 40,000 preventable deaths. What's shocking is that 40,000 people break every year and don't take out a bunch of people with them.

So yeah. People who would claim to have mental health issues to leech probably actually have mental health issues which turns them into leeches, we just don't take mental health seriously enough to bother with "personality quirks." Cutting in line, just wrecking shit for no reason, stealing shit, and fucking people speeding and swerving through lanes on highways that shit is fucked up, tons of people do it. Scares the fucking shit out of me, I can't wait until autonomous cars are mandatory. Whatever goes off on in peoples brains that makes them think thats ok to do is fucking COMMON AS SHIT and to me reflects statistics that say shit like 1/3 people has an undiagnosed mental disorder.

No, I went to Trinity University. What are you moving there for? It's a cool enough city. To me it was always about a big town that kind of turned into a city than a real city. Clearly it's a big city but still has a small town kind of feel. And, it's about as "Texas" as any city in Texas can get. People wear boots and cowboy hats and stuff fairly commonly.

I'm in the Air Force, I'll be stationed at Lackland for the next few years. I want to buy a house eventually, but not before I live there for a few months and get to know the market. You wouldn't happen to know any places that would do month-to-month or 3-month leases?

These Random Thoughts discussions suck. Lets ask the questions that really matter. For example: Areolas, do you prefer them pink or brown?

It might sound stupid but Trailer Park Boys means a LOT to me. It got me through a lot of tough times. Knowing that a big portion of what made that show work is gone really sucks. I'm going to struggle to watch any of the old episodes without feeling depressed now, and I was so looking forward to the next season... who knows if thats going to happen and if it does its just not going to be the same. He was THE best fake drunk of all time, and profoundly intelligent. He wasn't mentally addled, and he was in excellent physical shape, and this just came out of nowhere, just a few days ago he was performing.

Pet peeve: people who aren't aware compliment and complement are different words with different uses

In fact one time a guy corrected my spelling error into something wrong and I never actually told him he's a dumbass

Shit, the more you know. I’ve used the e version for everything, but I don’t think I use either in textual conversation basically ever.
