A lot of people here seem to be passionate about dogs & shelters. Why don't you talk about something along that line. You could do the impact of the economic downturn on shelters and the increase in dogs being put down or you could talk about pet overpopulation in general. Humane Society is a good reference.

This makes me so sad. I'm a random lurker and very occasional poster but my husband helped create the software on the Zune device and I was so sad to see the product end because I think the Zunes kicked ass. Mine are all still good and I'm sad to hear that yours have died because I like mine for music much better than my iPhone.

He's always been really good at fingerpicking (well, for a good 6 years) he just never does it on recordings. You can tell especially in that Alternative Press radio show he did.

I really like those recordings.

Acers are great laptops if you are looking for reliable performance for a reasonable price. They do tend to be on the uglier side. Personally, I have a 13" macbook with the glass screen. I run both Windows and Mac on it and I love it. I've had it for 3 years and have had zero issues. Being able to use both operating systems has been a bigger advantage than I initially thought and is useful in many small ways and switching operating systems is very easy and not too slow. I would say having a good laptop is worth the investment if you can pay for it.

hahahaha what?

I work at an aquarium and during a tour this morning, one of the octopuses shot a huge stream of water out of the tank through her siphon that was directly at me. I dodged most of it but my shoes and the bottom of my pants still got wet. It was great. The octopus also gave out a few hickeys, changed back and forth from white to red and was generally really animated. It was a great way to start the day.

1337. What kind?

I bought a Washburn acoustic from the local pawn shop. They put new strings on and tuned it for me. Now I just need to translate my awesome clarinet skills to guitar.

May I suggest CopyTrans Manager? http://www.copytrans.net/copytransmanager.php
I have my music on a wireless server and iTunes will not play well with it. CopyTrans has been a great work around. I hate iTunes.

I heard that HFStival is being relaunched in the DC area. I don't know who's playing but I want to go just for the memories.

RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation); you'll also want a a good anit-inflammatory pain killer, opt for aleve or advil over tylenol/aspirin

and I second the mst3k recommendation and highly recommend Whitest Kids U Know. Especially the grapest episode.

Vampire Weekend's cover of Rancid's Ruby Soho. It's not nearly as good as the original but is an interesting interpretation. I do like that they actually adapted it to their style instead of playing a straight cover.

I think I'm buying an iPad for my grandparents. They just need a super, simple interface to do email and see websites. The only thing I'm concerned about is the lack of Flash support. I have heard that it will be worse than the iPhone since in the current software configuration, users will not be directed towards mobile sights. I foresee a lot of blue lego blocks.
