So, I went to see the Menzingers open for Taking Back Sunday last night. They were good. It was fun to see them with a big crowd even if the crowd was only kind of into them since they were the first band. They seem to have won them over though. They played a really mixed set. Last time I saw them it was mostly their most recent album but this time it was a pretty even mix. They played for 45 minutes and basically went from one song to the next without stopping for applause, so they managed to get a lot of songs in, thankfully. I was worried they'd get like 25 minutes. They were good but I liked them better last time. The crowd's energy plays a big role in how much I like seeing bands live.

I'm not a big Taking Back Sunday fan, but the place was sold out and the people there were super into them. They sang all the words to like every song. Somehow a pit even broke out for a couple of songs, which I found a little weird. It was really clear the crowd was made up of fans that used to like them in high school and college. Lots of people reliving their younger days. The lead singer is really awkward on stage. And, it's obvious to me why their two big hits is why they became popular. They're clearly their best two songs.

Letlive was the second band. Some post hardcore band or some BS like that. The lead singer was crazy and super weird. At the end, he climbed up the scaffolding on the stage to get to the seats upstairs, despite security trying to pull them down. They were really energetic, but hardcore isn't my thing at all.

Letlive is great, but they're known for being unmitigated fuckwits. Like, destroying venues for lulz. With that said, their lives shows are great.

All I know about taking back Sunday is that they were part of the emo/pop punk phase that plagued the early to mid aughts.
