QUOTE (dumbducky @ Feb 17 2017, 05:57 PM) *
The title is "Transfer Learning in Convolutional Neural Networks for Fine-Grained Image Classification".

If you know anything about convolutional neural nets (or even regular artificial neural networks), parameter fine-tuning is a transfer learning/pretraining technique that can lead to better performance over random initialization. Basically you learn weights on a different dataset. Then you change to your targeted dataset and train like you normally would. However, the weights in your last layer have to be reinitialized because your outputs don't match. But the end result is that you tend to get a better network. In my experiment, 27/28 times I got a better network.

tl;dr: I made computers better at identifying pictures of dogs.

Interesting, our company mostly uses CNNs for medical image classification. we've looked into some new models. Long-term Recurrent Convolutional Networks (LRCNs) by converting a series of images into a video and Generative Adversarial Networks(GANs) for dataset generation.

Game Dev Story and Plague inc are great. I've recently been playing A Normal Lost Phone and Mini Metro. Highly recommend both.

Yeah, I kind of agree with Skankin on this, he's going to rabble rouse a shit load his first 100 days, and then as people get sick of hearing about politics/Trump all the time, he'll start doing the crazy shit that's going to make his cabinet boatloads of $$$.

In the credits, I see Bamfer and Steve Wozniak also submitted some of the old footage Streetlamps represent.

Lots of nostalgia, pretty well made. I wish they had ended with the last song of the night, track 15 from Vacation, the room was an emotional mess after that.

I'm in a bunch of the clips from the last show, you can find me pretty easily.

yeah, the $100 mark got you a DVD. Six backers, I wonder if she's actually going to release a DVD or just print up special dvd's for those 6. Probably the latter.

Those poor DVD backers.

Lowlights :
- How fucking pissed it reminded me I am at Streetlight for playing a bullshit "last show" 6 months before Bomb that cost me all my savings and all my time off, so I had to miss their actual final show at the Warsaw as opposed to fucking Goiter who played a show an hour from my house like 6 months later.

Yeah, that was the real tragedy. I honestly think it was like 2 months apart.

Fuckin' Goiter.

Hey, looks like it's live. https://nevergettired.vhx.tv/

Someone who purchased it, please download and seed; I bought it once, I ain't buying it again.

Same. Fuck, I'll be annoyed if my name isn't in the credits. I was supposed to get the tickets for the showing in Brooklyn like 2 years ago, but that never materialized.

I've had Project fi for close to a year, coverage hasn't been a problem for me(in the midwest, east and west coasts).

Love everything about it.

This is largely true, and is why I'm in the "it's impossible to know" category, but even before the nomination a lot of people HATED Hillary in a way they didn't hate Bernie. For sure, the campaign would've mongered fear against him, but I think it would have been less pervasive.

But I think it's just too easy to say in hindsight "I told you so!"

Obviously this is all conjecture on my behalf, but I'm getting annoyed with "SEE, WE SHOULD HAVE RAN BERNIE" sentiment. Regardless of some of the bullshit the DNC pulled, Bernie simply did very poorly in Southern states in the primaries.

I've been thinking the same thing. On the one hand, I know A LOT of people that didn't vote, or that were on the fence specifically because of how much they hated Hillary, and would have supported Bernie.

On the other hand... it's easy to say "Well he would have won!" when he didn't even run. He lost the primary, so.... would he REALLY have been that popular? Was it really the DNC's fault he lost, or is he just not as popular as we all want him to be?

Ultimately, it's impossible to know, which is why I have to roll my eyes at all the "bernie would have won" people.

Trumps campaign against Hillary - Career Politician, CROOKED(overtly), woman(covertly)

Trumps campaign against Bernie - Career Politician, COMMIE(overtly), Jew(covertly)

Scared white people would have still voted for him in droves.

I also mirror Alex's thoughts. Pence is scarier than Trump.

He's Cheney to Trump's Bush.

I think Bernie winning if he got he nomination is something that people are trying to tell themselves to make it seem like there was a chance. Trump is likable, just not by the demographics many of us deal with.

Based on the demographic turnouts of the votes last night, and that most down ballot votes didn't change much, I think Bernie would have also lost. White people, especiallyfrom the middle class, came out in droves last night to vote for Trump. Lots of people are scared of the idea of democratic socialism, might as well be a Soviet era communism to them.

I still think Cruz, Rubio, Bush, or Kasich would have beaten either Hillary or Bernie.

DNC regardless fucked up big time.

Dems fucked up in general, lots of holier-than-thou rhetoric about a right-wing populist candidate.
